Job description
The successful applicant will be involved in a joint research project between the Biomedical Research Institute (BIOMED) at the University of Hasselt and the Center for Cellular and Molecular Neurobiology (CNCM) at the University of Liège. The project is aimed at deciphering the involvement of neurotransmitters as communication signals promoting cortical development (mainly migration and differentiation processes), with focus on neurotransmitters interacting with ionotropic receptors. The main techniques used in this project include: ex vivo brain slices, immunohistochemistr y, molecular biology (siRNA technology), microfluorimetry and electrophysiology (patch-clamping) .
Profile and diploma
The applicant should hold a master degree in life sciences (e.g. medical sciences, biomedical sciences, bioengineering, biochemistry, biology, biotechnology) . Students in their last master year can also apply.
This project will be executed on two different sites (Hasselt and Liège) and will give the candidate a double diploma. Hence, we are seeking a candidate who is ready to work in both institutions. Knowledge of English is a prerequisite.
